Astra: The 5th Generation Trustworthy Global Computer

(Last Updated On: June 27, 2018)

The quest for global Supercomputer ends at Astra – The Social Supercomputer. The 5th Generation Trustworthy Global Computer Astra’s mission is: “Economic Collaboration among Unknown People and Machines across Globe”. Thus, boost the global economic activity by a factor of 10 within a generation. Initially, Astra is using its disruptive computing platform to serve two under-served markets of Medical & Scientific Computations and AI Driven Mining of Promising Crypto Coins. Later, Astra’s Decentralized Cloud Computing Platform will be targeted at other broader markets.

The credit for building worldwide Trustworthy Supercomputer goes to Rajesh Trivedi who is a seasoned technology entrepreneur and excels in discovery, conceptualization, and development of new technology markets and industries. He excels in discerning the structure and economics of an emerging industry and what is required to win it. He has extensive experience in Engineering, Marketing, Strategy Development and Execution in the Software, Databases, Blockchain, Networking, Semiconductors, and High Performance Computing industries. Mr. Trivedi is a thought leader in the emerging technology of Trust Machines (or Blockchains) and its long-term implications for our worldwide economy, society, and governance. Rajesh Trivedi conceptualized the idea of a worldwide Trustworthy Supercomputer into Astra project.

Bringing here the Tech Talk with Rajesh Trivedi, Founder and CEO of Astra -the Supercomputer

Rama: Tell us about yourself.

Rajesh Trivedi:  I am an engineer at heart with business training. I enjoy discovering and conceptualizing new market opportunities. I started my career in semiconductor industry with Xilinx. After my business education I focused more in the rising computer networking and software industries.

In 2014, while reading an article in The Economist magazine on the technology behind Bitcoin, I came across a very profound statement – it said that the Blockchain technology is about “establishing and preserving collective social truths”. It made me sit up and think about “what is truth?” and “how does one establish and preserve it”. Since then I have been smitten by the Bitcoin and Blockchain technology because it is at the intersection of my two favorite subjects – Economics and Computer Science.

Rama: How and when did the idea of Astra start?

Rajesh Trivedi: I was aware that these days our Scientists and Researchers prefer to do Data Driven Research. To solve a problem, they first build a theoretical model of potential solutions and then conduct extensive computer simulations. These computer simulations of human genome, protein structures, and synthetic materials require enormous computing power, which even the riches universities in the world don’t have. I thought that the new Crypto economy can be used to create an innovative incentive system to inspire people to share their spare computers for medical and scientific research. Using this mechanism we can build one of the fastest Supercomputer in the world. This is the motivation and genesis behind our project Astra – The Social Supercomputer.

Later we realized that the same shared infrastructure can be used to build a worldwide Trustworthy Computing Fabric. It will empower unknown people and machines across the globe to collaborate and do business together. Thus, Astra – The Social Supercomputer can be used not only for advancing the frontiers of medicine and science but also as an economic engine to boost growth around the world.

Rama: How does Astra – The Social Supercomputer empower people for a better tomorrow?

Rajesh Trivedi: Astra empowers common people to come together in communities to build one of the fastest Supercomputers in the world, which is available to researchers all over the world to find causes and cures for life-threatening diseases and for advancing frontiers of science.

Astra’s Trustworthy Computing Fabric also empowers unknown people and machines across the globe to collaborate and do business together, thus boosting the economy manifold. The economy of future will run smoothly on such Trustworthy Computing Fabric.

Rama: Throw some light on Astra’s two Noble missions ‘social service ‘ and ‘social truth’.

Rama: Throw some light on Astra’s two Noble missions ‘social service ‘ and ‘social truth’.

Rajesh Trivedi: Astra – The Social Supercomputer can be used for finding the causes and cures for life-threatening medical diseases, such as, Cancer, Malaria, and Ebola. It can also be used for advancing the frontiers of science in Climate Research, Particle Physics, and Astronomy. These constitute the “Social Service” mission of Astra.

Astra – The Social Supercomputer will also be used to build Trustworthy Public Data Repositories for transparency and economic efficiency. These Repositories contain collective social truths, for instance, People’s Identity, Credentials, Assets, and Product Provenance. These constitute the “Social Truth” mission of Astra for super efficient economies and corruption-free governance.

Rama: Elaborate more on your target market highlighting AI platform usage.

Rajesh Trivedi: Initially Astra is targeting three under-served or virgin markets, which require enormous computing power. These markets are currently not being adequately served by existing vendors or solutions:

  1. High Performance Medical & Scientific Computing
  2. Trust Automation (Mining) for Promising Crypto-currencies
  3. Building Artificial Intelligence Machines and Robots

Later, Astra will target the $500 Billion lucrative commercial cloud computing market on the back of its Trustworthy Computing Fabric.
